Our Story

Creative Sparks Projects began in 2021, founded by Kyle BrightSide as a short-term initiative to meet a client’s brief: engaging young people in a mural design. From that very first project, it became clear the program was much more than just painting walls — it sparked genuine connection, creativity, and confidence among young people.

Recognising this powerful potential, Kyle developed Creative Sparks Projects into a series of dedicated Programs focused on supporting disengaged youth and communities across Australia. Beyond transforming tired public spaces with vibrant murals, the Program empowers young people to build life skills, foster belonging, and take pride in contributing positively to their communities.

Since then, Creative Sparks Projects has grown to include a School Mural Program, targeting students in rural and regional areas to ensure equitable access to art and creativity. We’ve also expanded into early intervention projects, offering vital opportunities for young people needing support to connect, grow, and make a meaningful impact.

Driven by this vision, we are now proud to be fully registered and DGR1 endorsed charity organisation in Australia — committed to continuing our mission of providing arts access and amplifying young voices. Because we believe that when young people thrive through creativity, communities flourish — and the future of Australia shines brighter.

How We Do It

Creative Sparks projects is about reconnecting young people to their communities through art, creativity and mural projects that revitalises community and public facilities.

We do this through a 3 tiered approach:

1

Collaboration

We collaborate with communities, schools, councils, groups, and—most importantly—young people to create stories they’re proud to share. These stories become lasting legacy pieces that foster connection, pride, and a sense of belonging for generations to come.

2

Expression

We create a supportive, encouraging environment where young people feel confident to express themselves freely, develop creative skills, and nurture their imagination through hands-on, inspiring workshops.

3

Contribution

Collaborating with young people to share their stories through murals creates a powerful sense of contribution and belonging. This opportunity shows them they have valuable voices and are truly welcomed and needed by their community.

This approach enables Creative Sparks Projects to deeply embed within communities, meeting the unique needs of young people while delivering vibrant murals that benefit everyone. By fostering a strong sense of belonging and acceptance, the program ignites a spark within young people — inspiring them to take an active role in shaping their community and our country. This connection helps steer them away from negative influences and towards positive, ongoing contributions that strengthen the social fabric for all.

Aussie young people have so much to offer. We just provide an opportunity for their contribution to shine.

Our Mission

Our mission is to use our Projects to connect young people to their communities and inspire them to share their voices through visual art and creativity to contribute to shaping their community.
