Creative Sparks StreetLight Program

The Creative Sparks StreetLight Program is a community-led placemaking initiative that empowers young people to reconnect with their communities by actively shaping the places they call home.

Working alongside schools, councils and local partners, participants co-design and create a large-scale public mural that reflects local identity, shared stories and future aspirations. Each project transforms underused or overlooked spaces into visible expressions of community pride and belonging.

StreetLight creates meaningful opportunities for young people to contribute, collaborate and leave a lasting mark on their community - strengthening connection, participation and a shared sense of ownership.

For governments, councils and partners, StreetLight delivers low-risk, high-visibility youth participation programs that strengthen community connection and create lasting, place-based outcomes communities can see and take ownership of.

More Than A Pretty Picture.

Why connect young people to their community?

Research shows that when young people feel connected to their community, they are more likely to participate positively, contribute meaningfully and develop a strong sense of belonging.

Creative Sparks Projects turns this into action by giving young people a real role in shaping the places they live. Through the co-creation of large-scale public murals, participants collaborate, contribute and leave a visible mark on their community.

These murals become more than artworks - they become public symbols of identity, connection and shared pride.
