Creative Sparks StreetLight Program
Creative Sparks Projects exists to empower young people from diverse and often underserved communities to reconnect with their sense of place, purpose, and pride — using art, creativity and murals as a vehicle for change.
With 1 in 3 Young Victorians feeling isolated (Mission Australia: National Youth Survey 2024) Young Australian's are begging for an opportunity to contribute to their community, to be creative and have an ACTUAL impact. This is where Creative Sparks StreetLight Program is needed.
Each Creative Sparks StreetLight Program is delivered over 5–6 weeks and is designed specifically for communities facing social and economic challenges. Through this immersive, hands-on program, young people are invited to take the lead — working together to design, develop, and paint a large-scale mural that reflects their stories, culture, and hopes for the future.
Our workshops create a safe, supportive space where young people feel heard, valued, and inspired. They’re not just creating art — they’re building life skills, self-confidence, and a renewed connection to their community. By expressing their voice in such a meaningful and public way, participants leave a long-term, lasting mark — both on the wall and in the hearts and minds of their community around them.

Why connect young people to their community?
Research shows that when young people feel a strong sense of belonging, they’re more likely to engage in positive behaviours that benefit both themselves and their communities. This connection plays a key role in reducing issues such as vandalism, substance abuse, and other risk-taking behaviours — creating lasting impact across generations.
Creative Sparks Projects empowers young people to be part of the solution. By contributing to large-scale murals, they feel heard, valued, and proud of their role in shaping their community. These public artworks become symbols of connection, creativity, and shared pride — transforming both public spaces and the perceptions of young people within them.
